More sketches have been posted in the sketch section. I have more sketches in the making. Color for my artwork is not in my sight yet. I just don't feel like it. ISometimes I wonder what is the trigger that I have in my head that makes me choose between color, black and white or just sketches. It's just a question that linger inside. Oh well, I'm not losing any sleep for this anyway. I'm planning to do at least a couple of painted black and white artwork before the end of the year. I think the trigger is soon to be pulled. We'll see.

My last entry was a year ago, my only explanation is that I've been lazy. I do have new material though, nothing really big, mostly black and white sketches that I will post soon. I guess from time to time I need a break, this one was almost a year which has been long for me. The last time I didn't produce anything was back in the late 90's with a blocking of a couple of years at least. Well I can say that I'm back and I'm looking forward to share what I've done. Thanks

After a long hiatus I thought it was time to write a bit again. For those who don't know yet I'm a big fan of anime. Just last week I received the first 3 cd's of the Macross saga (Robotech). I remember when I was a kid and would love to watch the series in TV. The concept of the humans fighting in war planes, which could turn into robots, fighting huge human alike aliens was awesome. Not only that, back then anime was the only kind of animation were characters could die and bleed, also there was a nice coherent story backing up the anime. All this would make it so realistic for me. Instead of the western cartoons were nobody ever die and you could never see blood and of course the fact that the stories would only attract small kids. I haven't seen Robotech for15 or more years now and I still think it is an amazing anime. Please do yourselves a favor a buy these DVD's you can't go wrong here.

If you missed UFC 68 last Saturday you let pass one moment that will be remembered as one of the greatest in the history of mixed martial arts. Randy “The Natural” Couture came back from retirement to fight the World Heavy Weight Champion Tim “The Main-iac” Sylvia. What is truly amazing is that Couture is 43 years old and he moved up from the Light heavy Weight division to face a guy 7 inches higher and 40 pound heavier. Personally I thought that the UFC arranged this for a quick buck and I felt sorry for Randy. He's a classy person and a really good fighter but after being knocked out in his last two encounters against Chuck “The Iceman” Lidell I never gave him a change. How wrong was I. Even the so called “experts” agreed with my prediction, an early TKO or KO in favor of the huge Sylvia, but after shocking everyone knocking down “The Main-iac” on the first seconds of the first round I couldn't but root for for the future champion throughout the match. He basically beat Tim Sylvia the whole fight not only on the ground but on the stand up battle. I wasn't even going to buy the PPV but because my plans to go out at night went to waist I decided to watch the show. It was a truly good decision. If you like MMA do yourself a favor and watch UFC 68. I'm sure you won't get disappointed.

About two weeks ago I saw “Pan's Labyrinth” by Spanish director Guillermo del Toro and I think it was great. It is about a fairy tale involving a girl and three tasks that she needs to complete. The story occurs in the years of Spanish ruler Francisco Franco. It's crude and realistic but at the same time is a fantastic movie. I highly recommend it.

I think Guillermo del Toro is one of my favorites directors. I have followed him starting with Mimic and then The Devil's Backbone, Blade II, Hellboy (it was and ok movie for me) and finally Pan's Labyrinth. My favorites being Blade II (by far the best of the three and the last one being the worst) Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone. If you have time, rent those movies and you won't get disappointed.

Few days ago I saw the movie “An Inconvenient Truth” which talks about global warming and its effects on the whole world. Al Gore, the ex candidate to the presidency, gives an inspiring speech about how we can change our own future for the better. From the meltdown of Greenland , that will cause a rise of 20 feet above the normal level, risking the lives of millions of people living on the coastlines to the extinctions of different species of animals caused by the heat waves and other natural disasters. The worst fact is that we are the source of all these. A future not so bright if we continue to live the way we live. Just few changes in our lives can help. Like recycling more at home and the office, replacing a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb or share the “An Inconvenient Truth” DVD with friend and family.

Going into a lighter subject, this past December 30 th I watched Chuck Lidell vs Tito Ortiz fight on UFC Octagon. I really thought Ortiz was going to win but Lidell proved me wrong when he pounded Ortiz until the referee stopped the fight. Now comes the exciting news. Quinton Jackson, one of the most exciting fighters in the game and the last man to whooped Lidell booty, has signed a contract whit the UFC. On their last encounter Quinton dominated the whole fight making look Chuck like an amateur. The first time I saw the fight I felt sorry for Lidell. Oh well, we'll see what happen on his next fight. I'm “Rampage” Jackson 's side of course.
